Cong Abbey. A Short History and Guided Tour tells the story of Cong Abbey from it’s earliest foundation in the 7th century through it’s re-foundation in the 12th Century to it’s dissolution in the 16th Century. The story of the Abbey is continued to the time of it’s restoration in the 19th Century. People, events and artefacts are described including the Cross of Cong which was kept at the Abbey and later in Cong from the 12th to the 19th century.
The book is divided into two sections. The first part covers the history of the Abbey. The second part is a guided tour through the Abbey and it’s grounds which describes the architecture and features of the Abbey. Fully illustrated throughout. Includes an extensive bibliography. 40pp.
